Social media meets freelancing meet RPGs meet Multisigs

Go into detail around what you are building (1 paragraph max)

A socioeconomic system for autonomous humans and decent organizations to coordinate in creation and exchange of value with least friction possible. One of end goals being to build an open source framework for building digital-first states.

Who are you building for and why would they use your product? (What problem do you solve? What are your key use-cases and value propositions)

It goes by stages, but first I’m building it for MetaCartel, then wider ecosystem and finally, all oppressed societies of the world.
Problem: discovery of other MetaCartel members and projects, knowing what they do/need and how to get involved.
Value proposition: Build a cohesive ecosystem that can easily be grasped.
For those funding now? Receive the MetaGame “seed” tokens and “funding father” achievements. :man_shrugging:
I can go on but not sure how long we want this post to be.
Here’s the first narrative we’re trying to push: A Decentralized Factory.

What do you want to achieve in the next 8 weeks?

  • Write all the content explaining the “why” and the basic outline of MetaGame
  • Interview potential players and guilds, get 2 paragraphs: why they want it & what they offer
  • Build the basic website so we can showcase the above
  • Start receiving subscriptions to build it

Have you decided on a business model? (not important, just helps us gather more context)

No decisions yet, but here’s what highly likely:

  • Subscription model; pay 50?$/mo which you may also work off
  • Merchandise with NFTs
  • Pay to mint titles & achievements

What stage is your project at? (Idea stage, ready to launch, ready and live?)

  • Idea and live at the same time?
  • It’s an idea, but the game is to build the game, so it’s also live.

How many people are working on this project and in what time capacity? (part-time, full-time, casual etc.) + share links to the profiles of the core contributors

  • I’m the only one working full time
  • People around MetaCartel casually helping
  • Do people that plan on getting their project integrated count?

Have you received any funding from other sources? If so, from where?

  • Nope, haven’t asked for any and didn’t plan to until after the basic website completion.

Why are you asking now?

  • Seems like too great of an opportunity to miss, especially with nobody yet replying here.
  • FOMOOOO
  • I need these funds to lure new builders in from freelancing websites and hasten the process. (none of these funds will go to me, I’ll keep on working for 0$ for now)

Why do you want to work with dancing chilli (the MetaCartel)?
Well, the thing started as a project FOR MetaCartel, so…

Crypto savings account with upfront fixed-rate interest. It’s like your interest is traveling back from the future!

Go into detail around what you are building (1 paragraph max)
88mph is a savings dApp where the user can lock their Dai/USDC for a certain length of time in a lending protocol like Compound, and sell out the interest stream to someone else for an upfront payment. In effect 88mph allows the user to earn a fixed-rate interest on their savings, and they get the interest upfront. The user could also choose to only lock a portion of their money in this manner, and put the rest directly into Compound (where they can withdraw their money at any time), in order to satisfy their liquidity needs.

Who are you building for and why would they use your product? (What problem do you solve? What are your key use-cases and value propositions)
We’re building 88mph for two types of people:

  • Those who are interested in earning interest on their money at a rate far higher than those offered by banks, but dislike the unpredictability of Compound’s interest rates.
  • Those who would never have put their money in a savings account at all due to low rates, but would be intrigued by earning upfront cash money for free.

In other words, 88mph has two goals:

  • Give financially literate people a better savings account.
  • Incentivize financially illiterate people into creating their first savings account.

What do you want to achieve in the next 8 weeks?

  • Finish up the smart contracts and get them audited
  • Build a mobile-first front end for our users
  • Build a desktop front end for traders to purchase interest streams from our users
  • Build a GraphQL subgraph for fast data access, using the Graph

Have you decided on a business model? (not important, just helps us gather more context)
Not decided yet, but some of the options are:

  • Charge a fee on upfront interests
  • Charge a fee for creating an account
  • Charge a withdrawal fee
  • Freemium model where users can pay a subscription to access advanced features like Nexus mutual insurance and free transactions

What stage is your project at? (Idea stage, ready to launch, ready and live?)
We have a Proof-of-concept implementation of the interest stream sellout smart contract.

We want to be able to tell people that we work with someone called Peter Pan XD
Also, we need funding, and we’d rather build the thing we want to build and create a sustainable revenue-generating business, than letting some VC bossman with Airpod Pros tell us what font to use.

Give us an elevator pitch for your project (describe in 1-2 sentences)
Cherry Swap is building interest rate swaps on DeFi which enables anyone to hedge or speculate on interest rates in the Ethereum lending market.

Go into detail around what you are building (1 paragraph max)
Cherry Swap is building an automatic market maker to offer interest rate swaps on top of the existing DeFi stack. Through interest rate swaps DeFi users can either secure a fixed rate or speculate on changing interest rates in the DeFi lending market. Cherry Swap’s implementation is unique in that it uses an automatic market maker which always offers a algorithmically defined rate that is calculated as a function of current market demand and pool liquidity. The pooled liquidity has a liquidity token associated with it which represents fractional ownership in the liquidity pool plus any profits generated from offering the swaps.

Who are you building for and why would they use your product? (What problem do you solve? What are your key use-cases and value propositions)
Our initial target market is the DeFi community at large. Any borrower or lender who currently uses DeFi would be interest in interest rate swaps. As our product is built out, our market extends to any Dai user who wants to invest and lend out their Dai at a guaranteed rate.

The problem we are solving is the volatility of interest rates in the DeFi lending market. The rate you can get on Compound fluctuates per block depending on the number of borrowers and lenders in the lending pool. This makes DeFi lending a hard sell for risk averse users as their returns are not guaranteed as a lender and their costs are unbounded as a borrower. Additionally, there is currently no way to speculate on the fluctuation of interest rates within DeFi lending markets.

Cherry Swap’s interest rate swaps solve both these problems by enabling users to take a long or short position on interest rates over a period of time. This enables a trader to swap the compound.finance floating rate for a fixed rate (a short position) or to pay fixed and receive float (long position) over the duration of the swap. This provides investors with the ability to hedge, speculate, and manage risk while borrowing and lending within the DeFi market.

The introduction of the liquidity token creates a new asset class that will in theory yield higher interest than the current liquidity tokens, like cDai, from the profit generated from offering interest rate swaps.

What do you want to achieve in the next 8 weeks?
-Finish implementing the smart contracts for our automatic swap market maker
-Security Audit
-Implement new user interface
-Gain more popularity on social media and grow our following. User base will be the most important KPI for this grant for us

Have you decided on a business model? (not important, just helps us gather more context)
We want to avoid the introduction of a fee if possible. Our business model will be to initially provide liquidity in the Cherry Swap Lending pools to capture the profit generated from market operation. In time other liquidity providers will join and share in the profit as the market grows. Additionally there are components of the infrastructure that pay incentives for outside operators, such as initiating a payout of a swap position. We can provide the infrastructure to operate these and take the fees in the beginning until there is more competition for these services.

What stage is your project at? (Idea stage, ready to launch, ready and live?)
Developed the proof-of-concept during ETHBerlin hackathon where we won the open track. Since then we have been working on developing Cherryswap v2 which includes a new swap model, an automatic market maker and pooled liquidity system. Our goal is to have this system done by the end of the cohort.

Winnings from EthBerlin. We Also received funding from the Binance X Fellowship Program.

Why do you want to work with dancing chilli (the MetaCartel)?
We believe that a heavily under-utilized force to be reckoned with in the crypto ecosystem is memes. This is part of why we styled and designed our app the way that we did: to make it memorable and start a discussion. We want to meme Cherry Swap into existence and use this to drive adoption and platform usage. There is no better group to help us with this than MetaCartel!

On a more serious note we think that MetaCartel’s connections and community will be invaluable in helping us find product market fit and validating what we are building. The MetaCartel has extremely useful experience all along the web3 stack and can help us reach our true potential.

Sablier

What is your project website?
https://sablier.app

Give us an elevator pitch for your project
Sablier is a protocol for real-time finance on Ethereum. Its initial application is payroll, where we cut the trust barriers involved in getting paid for doing work.

Go into detail around what you are building
Sablier builds on top of ERC-1620 to provide a free, open-source and decentralised protocol for real-time payments on Ethereum. We use these smart contracts to power our user interface, which makes it nice and smooth to get paid continuously.

Who are you building for and why would they use your product? (What problem do you solve? What are your key use-cases and value propositions)
The target audience is the startup community within Ethereum and, generally, people who use crypto not just for investment purposes but also for their day-to-day life.

Today, you make a few assumptions when entering a contract with a worker:

  1. They will do the work, as promised
  2. If they do the work, you have to pay them

Sablier cuts the Gordian knot by making the payment start immediately after the contract is drafted. The payment is cancellable at any time, by any party. On Sablier, passage of time itself the trust-binding mechanism.

What do you want to achieve in the next 8 weeks?

  • Launch the dapp we built this autumn
  • Have at leat 10 workers get paid with Sablier
  • Explore other ideas such as tokenising salaries to enable under-collateralised lending

Have you decided on a business model? (not important, just helps us gather more context)
I don’t claim to have any clue about the future, but here are two possible ways to monetise Sablier:

  1. Charge interest via Compound, either with rDai or our custom interest-sharing scheme
  2. Tiered subscriptions. Free for basic stuff, but enforce a price tag for more advanced use cases. Got more than 2 employees? You pay. Want automatic daily withdrawals? You pay.

(Regarding #2, we considered eating our own dog food by asking potential customers to pay us with the same dapp)

What stage is your project at?
Ready to launch.

How many people are working on this project and in what time capacity? (part-time, full-time, casual etc.) + share links to the profiles of the core contributors

Have you received any funding from other sources? If so, from where?

In August this year, we received a grant from MakerDAO to fund the audits of our smart contracts and design and build the dapp we’ll launch soon.

Why do you want to work with dancing chilli (the MetaCartel)?

Firstly, I think Sablier as a product would be a great fit for MetaCartel and its partners. Then, I’d love to get involved in a DAO. Having the weekly calls would also make me commit to certain goals.

Kingdoms Beyond is an online MMORPG that integrates tightly with Ethereum, think pokemon style battles in an open world like Runescape.

Go into detail around what you are building (1 paragraph max
Explore an open world MMORPG with collectible heroes. Complete quests for rare rewards.
From heroes to items, to even the land itself, it can be tokenized and backed by a certain amount of ETH. Battle in strategic turn based battles against fearsome monsters. (PVP to come!)
The core features include play to earn, strategic battles, and chat with other users (completely multiplayer)

Who are you building for and why would they use your product? (What problem do you solve? What are your key use-cases and value propositions)
We’re building an MMORPG catered to blockchain and mainstream gamers alike.
Our main goal is to help bring awareness of blockchain through building a fun and interesting game and slowly introduce blockchain to main stream gamers.
Currently, blockchain games are not high quality, and there are several barriers to entry.
We make our game free to play. playable within any browser, and optional blockchain (for tokenization). By doing so, we can teach our user base slowly how to interact with the blockchain instead of making it a requirement from the start.
We hope to build a game where your time is valued and rewarded with assets that
are really worth something. We hope to build a game that provides users in 3rd world countries a means of making money. We hope to build out a platform for investors to make passive income from users playing in the ecosystem.

Some numbers since we launched 6 weeks ago:
1200+ registered users
450+ users who have linked their wallet
400+ engaged and active discord members
130+ ETH raised through founder sale thus far
Most ETH earned from one user playing for FREE: 2.6 ETH

What do you want to achieve in the next 8 weeks?
Push out key features of the game such as resource collection, stamina, houses
Marketing towards the phase 2 sale

Have you decided on a business model? (not important, just helps us gather more context)
We monetize through building out content (new heroes, land) that we sell through crates.
We also monetize on third party transactions (2.5% fees on opensea)

What stage is your project at? (Idea stage, ready to launch, ready and live?)
Live! Try it today, it’s free to play

How many people are working on this project and in what time capacity? (part-time, full-time, casual etc.) + share links to the profiles of the core contributors
We have 9 people working on this project.
We are new grads or about to graduate from The University of Waterloo

Jason [full-time]: Handles business/marketing/smart contracts/web
Shiyang [ex Facebook, full-time]: Handles backend, built out the majority of the game, manages the game dev team
Ashkan [full-time]: Built out key features of the game
Eva [part time]: Content creator and built out the storyline
Jeffrey [ex uber, Citadel, part-time]: Primarily built out the backend
Fanny [Microsoft, part-time]: Built out the frontend
Charles [Yelp, part-time]: Built out the front end
Angela [ex Google, part-time]: Built out the front end
Daniel / Lisa [commission-based]: Art / UI design

Have you received any funding from other sources? If so, from where?
No funding or grants whatsover, it has been completely bootstrapped.

Why do you want to work with dancing chilli (the MetaCartel)?
I really see the value in a DAO and particularly the MetaCartel.
Collaboration is extremely important in order to build out the Ethereum
ecosystem. For me personally, I value building out a project and thinking about
use cases that benefit the entire ecosystem.

One Click Dapp

What is your project website?

Give us an elevator pitch for your project (describe in 1-2 sentences)
One Click dApp turns any smart contracts into simple, easy to use dApp interface. Over 3,200 dapps have been created since launch one year ago. OCD remains an essential tool for developers looking to integrate with or build on other contracts. We want to make it essential for all web3 users through building a dapp as a service integration toolkit to bring streamlined web3 functionality to commercial websites.

Go into detail around what you are building (1 paragraph max)
We want to re-design OCD to make it even easier to use, add new features requested by the community, and implement a new premium feature for allowing anyone (included non-developers) to create a customized dapp user-experience which can be embedded into any website. We’ve begun preliminary designs for this premium product under the name Dappi (http://ontop.team/dappi). Video preview here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=15&v=uCqsFwgmTb8&feature=emb_logo

Who are you building for and why would they use your product? (What problem do you solve? What are your key use-cases and value propositions)
OCD has been a free public utility for over a year to both developer and non-developers, and we plan on keeping it this way. Dappi is designed to extend the idea of generated UX to go beyond developers, and build it in a completely flexible manner.

What do you want to achieve in the next 8 weeks?
Redesign OCD to make it clearer, easier and more powerful. Build Dappi, the premium front end design and integration product that allows companies to add the web3 functionality they need to any site.

Have you decided on a business model? (not important, just helps us gather more context)
All dapps, including Dappi creations, will continue to be hosted for free to encourage creativity and facilitate new developer onboarding into Ethereum. Fees will be charged to embed a dapp creation into an external website as a widget, as well as for white-labeling a hosted dapp (i.e. idea to dapp with zero coding).

What stage is your project at? (Idea stage, ready to launch, ready and live?)
OCD has been live for 1 year, while the Dappi feature is in the idea and design stage.

How many people are working on this project and in what time capacity? (part-time, full-time, casual etc.) + share links to the profiles of the core contributors
The team currently consists of Patrick Gallagher (created OCD), Patryk AdaĹ› (designer) and Victor Rortvedt (design and marketing). They each have enough time to give this project what it needs. Other devs have expressed interest in helping build this project so we expect the team to grow a bit.

Have you received any funding from other sources? If so, from where?
No other funding yet

Why do you want to work with dancing chilli (the MetaCartel)?
They’re a bunch of focused, productive visionaries and we share the same dream.
